With the intention to minimize the exposure of the soldiers in the urban battlefield the IDF operates some different types of robots. In the IDF's "Cast Lead" operation at the Gaza Strip in January 2009 soldier's lives were saved for the first time as a result of the use in the robots to neutralize territories in fighting in the urban areas both from cargos and from terrorists.
