The idea of documenting a wounded soldier was no coincidence for me. Beyond the fact that Louai Mer’i’s story touched my heart, I simply felt that I had to do something. For a long time now the subject of the wounded has troubled me – as someone who has been documenting the Israeli-Palestinian conflict for more than a decade, and especially the latest Intifada, I knew from various sources that in addition to over 1000 killed there were about ten times as many wounded. We are talking, then, about thousands of people who were injured in various ways and who to this day are suffering the trauma of the latest Intifada.
