Kfir's brigade "commando course" is a 4 week course designed to maximize the brigade's leading junior officer’s abilities and motivation, mainly in order to improve the performance in their organic units. The Commando course was founded after IDF realized that their officers were in need of anti-terror training. The course teaches the IDF officers various unconventional methods of combat, the platoon commanders and company deputy commanders participating in the course are handpicked by the brigade's high command. They spent the month in northern Israel drilling full contact Krav-Maga, sentry takedowns, firearms, solo navigation carrying heavy loads, survival, scouting, intelligence gathering, stealth techniques and high-risk arrests. Kfir’s brigade field of expertise is CQB (Close Quarters Battle) and the Palestinian territories.
