Amona is one of the illegal Jewish settlements in the West Bank located north of Jerusalem. On Feb. 1st, 2006 a few hundreds of Israeli policemen arrived in Amona to destroy 9 illegal buildings according to the decision of the Israeli Supreme Court. During what has turned out to be one of the hardest days in recent Israeli history, a few thousands of settlers battled against the policemen resulting in over 200 injured settlers and over 100 injured policemen. After a long day of battle the buildings were destroyed.
